I have a degree in Archaeology and a Dip Grad. I initially started working as an archeological illustrator, stepped sideways on to studying and working in anatomy/biological anthropology, eventually moving on to study surveying and work as a cartographer.
While most of my employment has been within the university sector I have also worked for several private companies as a graphic designer, most notably user interface development for in-house applications.
Most of my recent interface design work has been limited to modifying websites for companies and helping them with minor content updates. A few years ago I undertook a lot of corporate application design work for European and US-based companies.
